defective! so frustrated, so disappointed. it ruined my weekend :(
beautiful machine and delicious homemade starbucks!
It was easy to set up (followed instructions). Makes good coffee and lattes. I wish there would be soy pods, since I am lactose intolerant.
The only reason I gave 4 stars is, after having used other equipment, I would prefer side loading and a bigger water tank.
I am a Starbucks fan. I bought the Verismo to cut back on my cup a day habit.
The machine did not work out of the box. I read the directions, my husband read the directions, and together we could not get the machine to operate.
We left it on a counter for 2 days. 2 days later, my daughter pressed the rinse button and voila! hot water. No amount of US pressing the rinse button previously worked.
Now the machine works, and I am experimenting to make a cafe mocha that tastes remotely like the store's. No luck yet, but I'm getting closer.
This was well worth the wait! This was the 4th Verismo 600 - it was a warranty replacement.
It does what Starbucks claims - brews a great cup of coffee. I am happy that my Dutch "persistence" paid such great dividends.
I really like my Verismo and use it pretty much every day.
It is ready to use very quickly after powering on, and pulling shots is very fast. Brewing coffee/tea takes a little bit longer, but still is pretty fast.
The espresso shots taste great, and so does the brewed coffee and tea. However, the selection available in store is pretty limited at the moment. There is a much larger selection available online if you are willing to pay for shipping costs.
My only complaints about the machine itself are that it is pretty loud when brewing compared to a Keurig. Also, there is no low-water indicator, and the machine will allow you to brew with little or no water, which wastes a pod when it runs out before finishing.
my husband got this to use it in his office. I didn't really pay much attention to any single brew machines with capsules since I thought that is such a waste of money and the coffee never come out as good as my expresso machine. Well, in this case...I have to admit that I am wrong! This machine is different from the k-cup machines, which basically produces single-serve drip coffee. Verismo uses pressure to brew true expresso that tastes as good as my expensive professional expresso machine! I am sold. It's an affordable way of enjoying quality expresso. Everyone in my family is getting this great brewer for Christmas!
The first maker I received didn't work @ all....now with the second replacement maker, the buttons stick..... forget giving this as a present for Christmas. It's good in theory though....
I am very satisfied with my machine. It's easy to use and really does make delicious coffee. I still believe that it is not quite as good as when I go to the shop. However, that could also be because I am subconsciously factoring in the ambiance and other benefits of visiting the coffee house.
So I've had my burgundy 600 for a year now and it still works great. Some of the pro's are
1) great tasting espresso and hot milk
2) great tasting coffee
3) ease of use
4) super fast to make a coffee
5) looks great on my counter top
The only con's I can really think of are
1) sometimes the water isn't that hot (side note you can reset the machine so that the water is hot again. Consult your manuals. So not really a con)
2) pods are a pain to find in stores especially in the flavors you want.
And that's about it. My man did the math when he got it (as it was a christmas present) and found that it also actually SAVES you money buying this than going into the Starbucks store. It costs 3 dollars less after you factor in the cost of pods and the machine compared to getting your drinks in store. Pretty awesome. Basically I love this machine to pieces. Thanks Starbucks.
