Lattes at Home I love Starbucks and I love this machine. Two pushes of buttons and I have my own latte - which tastes just like the ones at Starbucks. And if you want to get fancy, you can purchase the syrups and caramels and make any of their signature drinks. Best purchase ever. November 25, 2012
Pretty Good The Verismo is my 3rd single cup brewer and an addition to my Starbucks semi-automatic espresso machine purchased in 2002. It arrived well packed and took me less than 5 minutes to be up and brewing. I was a little concerned about what the milk pods would taste like so I was anxious to try the cafe latte sample pack that came with it. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The milk pods were great. The espresso brewed well. I must say that the brewing temperature is a little low though for brewing a proper shot of espresso, however brewing it into a shot glass you can see the different layers that comprise a good shot of espresso, with a good layer of crema on the top. That is surprising giving the lower brew temp and the fact that it's only a 19 bar machine. Overall I am very satisfied and it exceeded my expectations. The price to brew a double shot latte comes in just under what you would pay for the same thing in a store. That makes it the most expensive single cup brewer to use on the market, but the quality is well worth it and keeps me from having to get into the mess of my semi-automatic machine. The price of the pods, and the lower brew temp are the only reasons this machine didn't get a 5 star rating from me. October 3, 2012
I like it! We bought a Verismo just after Christmas, and liked it so much I bought one for my office. Basically, this is a simple pump brewer that is less costly than most pump espresso makers, but still makes good espresso and coffee. It uses Verismo pods, available at Starbucks. I understand that Kfee pods will also work, but my search online found similar or higher prices. So far, only a few types of coffee are available in Verismo pods. I look forward to someone developing recyclable pods that you can reload with your preferred coffee, and that don't create more trash for the landfill. Starbucks could lead the way here and be environmentally responsible as it has been in some other areas. January 27, 2015
Great Machine! This is my first Verismo. I live it since it is very easy to use and maintain. Currently going through with the ibcluded pods and really live making a caffe latte. Will be experimenting with other recepies. Having a removable water tank is great to easilly top it of with water. Ut easilly heats water and for a good cup o joe. Not having to throw the pods right after use is a nice feature. A great way to start the day! December 16, 2014
Problems I bought two of these machines, one for home and one for the office. I have had problems with both of them. I brought both back to starbucks and exchanged them and now one of the units is still problematic. Every now and then the units blow the bottoms out of the pods and fills your cup with a messy mixture of grounds and water. I have had it happen with different pods, doesn't seem to matter what coffee you are trying to brew. The pressure will suddenly just pop and the pod bottom blows out. I don't think I will bother to bring it back a third time. November 14, 2014

Coffee and Espresso are Great

By Wendy61

from Minnesota, USA

Easy to use, great coffee. Have only made a few cups but have appreciated the convenience. Thinking about taking it to the office for afternoon pick-me-ups. My only disappointment was that the milk pods that came with the machine are dated October of 2013. Now I don't know if the pods themselves are not good (as other reviewers say) or if mine were past their prime and that's why they taste bad. I was hoping to taste so I could make my own decision but I think I'll stick to the coffee!

We got two machines one for the kitchen and one for the office. I don't know how we functioned without them ;-) We buy the verismo machine for all our friends who also end up falling in love with them!

I love this machine!

The only thing I can think of that would make it better is to have the small glasses as shown in the pictures; the ones the fit the machine when making espresso. Bit this is small compared to the excellence of this machine. I love it!

Terrible product

By Deedeek

from Kennett Square, PA

I am on my second Model 580--the first one was returned because it did not make hot enough coffee, and there was a frothy-type film on the coffee when brewed. My second Model 580 is no better than the first one--it does not make hot enough coffee, and there is a frothy film on the coffee when brewed. I can't seem to get an answer as to why the coffee is not hot enough and why there is a frothy film on the coffee when brewed. When purchasing coffee at a Starbucks location, the coffee is definitely hot and no frothy film.
Incidentally, when I received my second 580, the instructions said to take the plastic film off the grate where the coffee cup sits. No plastic film was on the grate, but I noticed that the paint was bubbling and chipped on the edges of the grate. This does not affect the way the coffee is brewed, but is definitely a quality control issue. The Model 580 needs a complete overhaul or discontinue it completely.

Gross coffee + inconvenient

By DawnB

from Boston, MA, USA

First, the coffee: It doesn't taste remotely like Starbucks. That aside, it doesn't even taste good. I tried several different kinds of pods and types of drinks, and they were all bland.

Next, the machine: It is a pain to use. You have to rinse it before every cup. The pods often fall through before you press the button, then water/old coffee gets everywhere when you try to retrieve the pod. Then you have to either reuse it after it's wet and dirty or throw it away unused.

I returned this after a week. Very disappointing.

It was a warranty replacement

By BobF

from Seattle

First unit always exploded the Espresso Decaf.
Tried multiple boxes.
This one started out doing it, but has now
corrected itself.
Starbucks were very cooperative in covering this apparent design problem.

DON'T DO IT

By Daisy11

from Coffeeville

I have had my machine for 1 month longer than the warranty. It has been acting up for a little while-lukewarm coffe, doesn't start with out being wacked, and doesn't shut off when you depress the button. In the beginning it was wonderful but after less than a year it was mediocre. My advice if you you are thinking of buying one...don't!
