Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

In Latin America, coffee farms are often run by families, with their own homes on the same land where their coffee grows. We’ve sipped coffee with these farmers for decades, sitting on their verandas, overlooking the lush beauty of the coffee trees rolling out in the distance. Most times it was a lightly roasted coffee like this one. It took us more than 80 tries to get it right—mellow and flavorful with a nice softness.

    Excellent mellow coffee This is an excellent mellow coffee, good for any occasion whether it be a light breakfast or after dinner. There is a slight cocoa flavor. My husband has not been a Starbuck's coffee drinker because he felt it "too harsh" but he loves this one. We are drinking it every morning. March 4, 2012

    Surprisingly Flavorful I was very pleasantly surprised by this Blonde roast coffee. I have never really tried a light roast bean before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I, like many, was under the impression that a lighter roast yielded a weaker coffee, but that was absolutely not the case. This coffee is extremely complex. While the cocoa flavor is not as strong as what you might find in Pike Place, it is still prominent. I loved this coffee iced; that's how I drank it most days. I would definitely buy this blend again. July 14, 2014
