Sumatra is the one dark roast that is never bitter. Tried all the dark roasts and it is consistently my favorite. We make it really, really strong and the Sumatra is always mild and flavorful. Cannot tolerate any brand except Starbucks for flavor. Other non-starbucks roasts taste fruity or not as rich.
