Starbucks Reserve® West Java Indonesia

8 oz
A new favorite from the Western side of the island of Java.
Availability:  This item is not available.

Sweet, herbal complexity with a silky milk chocolate flavor and texture.

These beans flourish on Java's west side, where abundant rainfall and cooler temperatures create a marked difference in climate from the island's eastern half, home to the more established coffee-growing estates.

To tend to their coffee trees, cultivated high upon a remote volcanic slope, smallholder farmers must travel by foot. Once harvested, the beans are diligently carried down the rugged terrain for processing. The resulting cup is a testament to the farmers hard work and dedication.

This special Starbucks Reserve® coffee is in very limited supply and only available at select stores.

Tasting Notes Sweet herbal and milk chocolate.

Region asia-pacific

Producer:  Smallholder farmer groups in 6 different sub-districts to the north of Bandung, which is the capital West Java Province.

Elevation:  900 - 1700 meters, 2700 - 5100 feet

Processing Method:  Semi-Washed

West Java, due to the volcanic mountains forming an East-West spine across the island, presents itself uniquely from East Java home to customer favorite Blue Java.

Grown on the West side of the island of Java this coffee exemplifies the pronounced geographical differences between the two sides, with more rainfall, higher humidity and generally cooler temperatures on the West side.

While coffee production in this area dates back to the Dutch colonial era (16th century onwards) the production of this semi-washed coffee really only commenced at the turn of the millennium.

Nothing special This coffee was bland compared to most Indonesian coffees. May 16, 2013
Best ever Best Starbucks brand I have ever brewed. Suttle hints of mocha, very smooth. Perfect ratings for this one continue! May 9, 2013
Smooth I tend to migrate towards Indonesian coffee. Sumatra being my favorite store blend. The West Java blend does not have the bold bite that Sumatra does. It has a supple, mellow flavor making it a good choice for just about any time of the day. March 31, 2013
Smooth and mellow Indonesian coffees are among my favorites so I just had to try this. It is smooth, with the flavor not overpowering, yet delicious. The "milk chocolate" note is an apt description. It is the kind of coffee that you want to finish every drop to the bottom of the pot. As mentioned, the flavor is not overpowering but deliciously smooth. Indonesian coffees are also well known for low-acidity and this is no exception. This is one of the best coffees I've tried in a long time, highly recommended. March 24, 2013
