For centuries Batak tribe members in the Lintong district on Lake Toba's southern shore—Sumatra's prized coffee-growing region—have cultivated big, bold coffees like this one in their backyard gardens.
After the ripest cherries are handpicked, they're painstakingly wet-hulled in small batches. This unique processing method, which requires constant attention due to humid climate, gives the unroasted beans a distinct blue tint and contributes to the complex herbal flavor, redolent of the lush, fertile land.
This Starbucks Reserve® coffee is available only at select times and stores, so be sure to enjoy it when you can.

Bad servers make Starbucks an unhappy place. The servers don't even smile when you walk in,!!
This is an excellent coffee. My husband and I agree that it is different from the regular Sumatra we love. this is less bitty at the end and has a nutter flavor vs the more earthy tones of the regular version. This coffee has a lighter feel and flavor, but still full of flavor.
A must have brew!! For anyone who who is a fan of Sumatran coffee but wants something different should sample this at their local Starbucks that has a Clover machine inside.
not what SB'S put it out to be this is the 4th buy I made on line and the 4th and last time....
My wife is crazy for the Blue. Keeps the wife happy so I'll be back for more. Best part it's really good.
Deep, dark, smooth taste. Very nice. I would buy it again, despite its cost.
When it's right you will know it. This coffee took me a little time to discover it's flavor range and what to expect with each cup. Some things are worth waiting on! A true cup of enjoyment!
I love Sumatra coffee - specifically AGED Sumatra that I can no longer find at Starbucks where I've always bought it.
This Blue Batak does not, in my opinion, even taste like a Sumatra coffee.
I'm VERY disappointed.
I think a Starbucks "Clover" machine could redeem it, but ha ha not gonna happen!
Last ditch effort: REVERSE French Press - pull the coffee beans UP instead of pressing DOWN.
Let me start with the aroma. This is one of those coffees you can't keep your nose out of. Wonderful deep scent. As for taste, made this in a French press. Nice bold flavor, not overpowering. Full body, by far one of the best coffees I've had in a long while. If you like smooth yet bold dark roasts, this ones for you.
Good body but weak in the flavor side.
Won't do this again.
