Starbucks Reserve® Peru Chonti

Cradled in a languid steep-walled valley in northern Perú, the small farms of Aladino Delgado and Wilder Garcia collaborate to produce this exquisitely layered coffee—with flavors that captivated us from the first sip.

Delgado, a past supplier of Starbucks Reserve® coffee, is also a mentor to other farmers, generously sharing his art with a new generation. Starbucks is proud to support his efforts and delighted to offer Perú Chonti—the culmination of true passion and dedication.

Of the thousands of coffees we encounter in our search for the best, only a precious few are deemed exceptional enough to become Starbucks Reserve® coffees, offered only for limited times at select stores.

Tasting Notes Citrus and baking chocolate

Region latin-america

Producer: Aladino Delgado and Wilder Garcia farms in Cajamarca, Perú

Elevation: 1,400 - 2,000 meters (4,600 – 6,600 feet)

Coffee Variety: Typica and Bourbon

With the help of exporter Volcafe Specialty Perú, Delgado and Garcia are using advanced agronomic processes to increase yields of arabica coffees and achieve qualities and flavor which could compete in competitions such as the Cup of Excellence.

This may be my all time favorite coffee!!! The taste is so smooth with no bitterness. There is a slight after taste of chocolate. So delicious!! I ordered two more today.

Subtle Pleasures

Peru Choni provides the coffee connoisseur with a pleasurable wake-up or afternoon delight, though it is not exactly one of my personal favorite Reserves. What entices me are the subtle undertones and the very low acid. Normally, my palette does not go for nutty flavor; although the description lists hazelnut as a part of this brew's taste complex, the nuttiness is truly subtle and honestly delicious. This might be due to the balancing harmony struck by pairing the nut with the natural chocolate. You do get a sense of the intended flavors, although they are almost subliminal. What sets the blend apart, though, is the remarkable finish, a very fine after-taste that doesn't overpower the tastebuds. Recommended for fans of lighter-roast coffees.

I love dark roast blend. This seem to be light .. or medium. Nothing stated in the package, but whatever it is, I enjoyed every sip. The flavor is not subtle.

One of my favorite Starbucks Reserve Coffees I've tried this year. We all have weaknesses, mine is coffee. I drink a lot of reserve and limited release coffees.
This is one of the best. Don't miss this one. I ordered 3 more after the first press.

Peruvian Pleasure ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

By FantasyCoffeeLeague

The moment the bag was opened, there was a fresh, sweet aroma with a subtle hint of chocolate. We used a conical grinder to get the most out of the beans. The brewed coffee smelled enticing. The taste is smooth and not bitter with a lemony undertone. This coffee has it all and is now one of our favorites. We wish this Reserve coffee was available at all the Starbucks stores.

This coffee not only smells like chocolate, it literally tastes just like a fresh baked chocolate cake. Acidity is very low in this one and the after taste is exceptionally smooth and pleasant. This coffee smells so good, you just want to eat it. One of the better reserve coffee's. Highly recommended.
