Starbucks Reserve® Malawi Peaberry Sable Farm

Our third single-origin offering from Malawi, a country with one of the smallest coffee yields in East Africa, comes in the form of peaberries hand-selected from three lush parcels of land cultivated by Sable Farms.

Peaberries are singular, round beans formed naturally when one of the two seeds within the coffee cherry fails to develop. And our coffee experts love them. Dense and uniform in size, they roast more evenly and are delightful in your cup—delivering deep, concentrated flavors.

Of the thousands of coffees we encounter in our search for the best, only a precious few are deemed exceptional enough to become Starbucks Reserve® coffees, offered only for limited times at select stores.

Impressive Impressive flavor with a strong start and a smooth medium finish. A very good value for the quality and price for a reserve coffee. Great single origin coffee. Enjoy in the evening once the day has started to cools off. Don't miss this one. August 10, 2014
Overpriced The coffee is good, but not worth the expensive price. I should have paid attention to the size of the bag: 8 oz. When I looked at the price, I really thought I was purchasing a 1 lb. bag. July 14, 2014
Refreshing lime coffee? Yes. The Malawi Peaberry from Sable Farm posed a risk. Any coffee that boasts hints of lime could amount to flavor catastrophe; however, this was actually an amazing brew that both surprised and refreshed. Highly recommend this brew for these balmy summer months. My one criticism is that the after-taste was stronger and longer-lasting than the 'average' coffee drinker might like. This could be due to what Starbucks terms the "crisp acidity," an oh-so slightly metallic tinge. For someone who lives for coffee though, the lingering flavornote might really prove an added bonus. Enjoy. July 4, 2014
Excellent coffee! Malawi is a beautiful country with wonderful coffee. Starbucks, thank you for bringing it home! June 28, 2014
Very good coffee I have tried virtually all of the reserve coffees, I know of only one that I missed, and I was a bit skeptical when I read that this coffee had flavor notes of lime. But after brewing my first cup, I was pleasantly surprised at how balanced & tasty it was. Compared to the price of the other reserve coffees, it's a wonderful cup at a little more reasonable price. Peaberries aren't often offered as reserves, yet this is the second time this year (Zambia terranova the other). I recommend the Malawi peaberry, it's a great cup of coffee at half the price of the Maui or Kona. June 28, 2014
