Beyond expectation

Comments about Starbucks Reserve® Hawaii Ka'u:

Fantastic display of Hawaiian agriculture craftsmanship in the dark roast, to be sure. I have personally worked alongside the Miranda family, one of the few artisan growers who take pride in their work and community. Outstanding flavor with quite pleasant aromas during brewing.

Consistent rich flavors cup after cup!

Comments about Starbucks Reserve® Hawaii Ka'u:

Starbucks has the capita to quality control these wonderful beans from this tiny region in Kona. Of the several farms, this offering is amongst my top 3. In regular drip, the coffee is good, but if you want to treat yourself and do it right, French press attention is warranted. I use 2 level table spoons per 12 ounce cup with a half teaspoon of sugar to really bring out the flavor. Get a couple of bags if you can; these are a tough find.

Comments about Starbucks Reserve® Hawaii Ka'u:

This coffee is better than most Kona's. The price is comparable, but this coffee is more consistant than most coffee people sell as kona.

Nice nutty mellow flavor, reminds me of areally nice Kenyan AA.

Not Very Good

By mikelcoffee

Comments about Starbucks Reserve® Hawaii Ka'u:

I was really looking forward to a cup of Hawaii Ka'u-- but it was disappointing. Upon opening the bag, about 25% of the beans were crushed and brittle. The coffee that wasn't damaged was lackluster. For $50 a Pound, I was expecting a great Hawaiian coffee-- I've had several different ones over the years and this particular coffee was nowhere near justifying the price point. I will not buy this coffee ever again, nor will I venture back to Starbucks for their Reserve Coffee-- especially since the beans didn't even arrive in good condition. I mean, really?
