A study of the Cerrado Mineiro region in the Minas Gerais State of Brazil revealed a large, circular dome of soil formed by magma that did not quite break the surface of the earth to create a volcano. The dome settled, leaving behind a soil rich in minerals that give the coffee grown there a dazzling palette of flavors.
Of the thousands of coffees we encounter in our search for the best, only a precious few are deemed exceptional enough to become Starbucks Reserve® coffees, offered only for limited times at select stores.

Farmer Ruvaldo Delarisse has a highly analytical approach to cultivation that has earned him accolades for his coffee, and created the perfect environment for these special beans to thrive in the Cerrado Mineiro region of Brazil.
Fazenda Apucarana sits atop the mineral-rich dome of an unformed volcano. The trees, strategically placed arabicas chosen to withstand temperature extremes, are evenly exposed to sunlight throughout the day for uniform crop maturity. The finished cup is sweet, citrusy and elegant—a reflection of Delarisse’s precision and care.
This Starbucks Reserve® coffee is available only at select times and stores, so be sure to enjoy it when you can.
