A study of the Cerrado Mineiro region in the Minas Gerais State of Brazil revealed a large, circular dome of soil formed by magma that did not quite break the surface of the earth to create a volcano. The dome settled, leaving behind a soil rich in minerals that give the coffee grown there a dazzling palette of flavors.

Of the thousands of coffees we encounter in our search for the best, only a precious few are deemed exceptional enough to become Starbucks Reserve® coffees, offered only for limited times at select stores.

Farmer Ruvaldo Delarisse has a highly analytical approach to cultivation that has earned him accolades for his coffee, and created the perfect environment for these special beans to thrive in the Cerrado Mineiro region of Brazil.

Fazenda Apucarana sits atop the mineral-rich dome of an unformed volcano. The trees, strategically placed arabicas chosen to withstand temperature extremes, are evenly exposed to sunlight throughout the day for uniform crop maturity. The finished cup is sweet, citrusy and elegant—a reflection of Delarisse’s precision and care.

This Starbucks Reserve® coffee is available only at select times and stores, so be sure to enjoy it when you can.

Brazil's Coffee This is an especially well balanced flavor, I brewed it strong this morning and so much so I got a coffee jolt. One thing this is so smooth on your palate, just like when I brewed this coffee to usual proportions. So if you accidentally brew it too strong you won't be stuck with a bitter cup. June 29, 2014
Brazil and First Love I tried my first single origin Brazilian coffee with some very nice people from there years ago. They had the coffee with them while traveling. They knew how to be prepared when traveling. Smooth cocoa taste and nice even finish. Enjoy June 22, 2014
Great taste This is a very exceptional coffee. I would point out that this is definitely worthy of the reserve title unlike what the other reviewer said. There is a strong chocolate smell that comes from opening the bag. The best way to describe the taste is that it has a very well balanced thorough taste. Reminds me of a premium cigar, it changes Taste the second it enters the mouth, has a very warm low acidic tone and finishes very smooth as it reaches the back of he throat. Highly recommended. Excellent As an employee of Starbucks nothing pleased me more than conducting a tasting of Brazil with a french press. The aroma is mild, but the flavor makes this coffee a top pick. The coffee is sweet and awakens the tongue. The taste of berries along with the low acidity make this a very pleasant coffee. Just very smooth and well put together. I would recommend with fresh berries. June 1, 2014
Not good - This aroma isn't at the level I expect from a great coffee. The quality just isn't there. May 29, 2014
