You're holding a bit of history—the first Starbucks® coffee from India.

Cultivated in Karnataka in harmony with nature, the lush and layered coffee captivates from first sip. In the dappled light beneath shade trees, the gently sloping land and fertile red soil yield the finest Indian coffee we've ever experienced. Our master roasters lovingly revealed its distinctive complexity—lush herbal notes, hints of citrus and a chocolaty mouthfeel.

Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

Wonderfully chocolatey and herbal I had never tried Indian coffee before so I didn't know what to expect from this coffee. It blew me away. I look forward to more offerings from India if this is an indication of what Indian coffee is like. This coffee is very chocolatey and herbal. I'm vegan so I paired this coffee with organic dark chocolate peanut butter cups and that was a great pairing. My partners paired this coffee with a double chocolate brownie and they loved it. If you like chocolate then you will like this coffee. This coffee sits firmly in the middle of the medium roast category. I'm a Starbucks Coffee Master and I am very impressed by the roasting of this coffee. So often a medium roast coffee will have strong roast profile aromas and flavors. Some people interpret this as a "burnt" smell/flavor. This coffee exhibits no roast aromas or flavors. It takes a great degree of skill by the roaster to achieve this. This is a wonderful coffee. Very interesting coffee Has a wonderful complexity. I love this as a French press. October 10, 2014
worth a try I was really looking forward to sampling this new blend but I must admit I was slightly disappointed. I found it tending toward the bitter side and definitely more earthy than I like my coffee. That being said, its still worth a try, and it was clearly a matter of preference and not one of quality. For those that like a bolder, earthier blend I think this will be a great hit and become a favourite. October 9, 2014
