Our tribute to the birthplace of coffee.
Availability:  In Stock
On the ancient slopes flanking Africa's Great Rift Valley, coffee trees first emerged from the rich, volcanic soil.

From these ninth-century highlands arabica coffee beans began their long journey from Ethiopia to the rest of the world. Today our master roasters have created an entirely new way to experience these treasured beans. An exquisite blend with a reverence for the ritual of coffee, honoring Ethiopia's bountiful legacy. With a velvety soft texture and floral, peppery spice notes, this is our tribute to the birthplace of coffee.

A Better Cup

We're committed to ethically sourcing and roasting the highest-quality arabica coffee in the world. When we buy coffee this way, it fosters a better future for farmers, and a more stable climate for the planet. It also helps create a long-term supply of the high-quality beans we've been carefully blending, roasting and packing fresh for more than 40 years.

Roast:
Blonde Medium Dark

Balanced, Smooth & Rich

Tasting Notes Citrus and dark cocoa

Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

Distinct flavor This coffee has a clean and true coffee flavor that has it's own distinct flavor. I will make this my go to coffee from now on August 19, 2014
NOT A FAN I am always a regional type of coffee girl, no blends, since the blends tend to be "bottom of the barrel" in nature, a collection of scraps leftover. So I was initially excited to try the Ethiopian whole bean. It was not great. The beans were multicolored (not roasted at same temperature or for the same amount of time) leading to a very acidic aftertaste and a bite on your palette at first sip. Will not be purchasing this again. Sorry, I still LOVE Starbucks! August 14, 2014
Not a good coffee This is well below the average of your coffees, so can't recommend August 11, 2014
Tastes burnt - is that cocoa?! Totally doesn't taste like cocoa and citrus, at least in a pour over, which normally does a great job in bringing out more subtle flavors. Smells burnt as well. Does not taste like 100% arabica to me, or it's over roasted. Maybe both. I haven't tried a starbuck's bean in a long time - for espresso or pour over - and I doubt I will again. Totally not worth the $ or my time to drink it. Honestly, I've had instant better than this (which is a sad thing to say.) The bag (fresh ground for me at a starbucks) is going into the garbage. Love this flavor This coffee is great. I tried this coffee at a taster event and I feel in love. I continue to purchase each time I have to refill coffee. I enjoy this one along with Guatemala Antigua coffee. April 25, 2014
