Our tribute to the birthplace of coffee.
Availability:  This item is in stock.
On the ancient slopes flanking Africa's Great Rift Valley, coffee trees first emerged from the rich, volcanic soil.

From these ninth-century highlands arabica coffee beans began their long journey from Ethiopia to the rest of the world. Today our master roasters have created an entirely new way to experience these treasured beans. An exquisite blend with a reverence for the ritual of coffee, honoring Ethiopia's bountiful legacy. With a velvety soft texture and floral, peppery spice notes, this is our tribute to the birthplace of coffee.

A Better Cup

We're committed to ethically sourcing and roasting the highest-quality arabica coffee in the world. When we buy coffee this way, it fosters a better future for farmers, and a more stable climate for the planet. It also helps create a long-term supply of the high-quality beans we've been carefully blending, roasting and packing fresh for more than 40 years.

Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

THE best Full and rich. The best coffee evah (as we say in New England). January 6, 2015
Best coffee currently at Starbucks I used to buy Starbucks Ethiopia Sidamo and loved it. I believe the only Sidamo option currently offered is like $30/lb. as a "Reserve". This isn't quite as good as the old Sidamo, but it's close and has a lot of the same characteristics. I bought 4 lbs. for Christmas to make in my French press at home, and I'm very happy with my purchase. It's even better in my French press than on the clover in the stores. I won't buy French pressed coffee at the store, though, because they put in too much coffee and ruin it. I hadn't even noticed that they call it a medium roast until I read the other reviews. I usually only buy dark roast, and it's plenty bold for me. December 26, 2014
Best Ethiopian out there I enjoy a full bodied coffee and this one fits the bill. Roasted to perfection, never bitter. December 26, 2014
Super Excellent Wife's birthday, she favors dark roast, expresso, Strong. This was the best we've tried, even at a "medium" as it says on the bag, it is great. Getting the beans and grinding them was pure luxury. if you favor the hi-test grind, I can't recommend this highly enough. Heaven. December 16, 2014
A true taste of the coffee bean in a refreshing hot cuppa. A delightful taste of coffee with memories of years ago. It is nice to enjoy the variety of coffee flavors, but we keep going back to Starbuck's tribute to the birthplace of coffee--the Ethiopia blend. December 15, 2014
