Wonderful book - great gift! I spied this book on a back shelf in the downtown Bellingham, WA café. I asked to look at and I was SOLD. I just do not understand why the stores that carry this do not have a sample - out - where people can easily see it. It could have easily been missed. It has wonderful photos and very helpful step by step photos. There are recipes in here that I have never seen before - a real FIND!! November 7, 2013
A good foray into simple, everyday, french cuisine I am a Starbucks Partner that is attending Culinary School. This cookbook is truly unique in the fact that all of the recipes fit on one, two page, layout. Pictures demonstrating important parts of the cooking process as well as easy to source ingredients make for a winning combination. Although not every ingredient has a recipe to make it from scratch and a microwave is used in parts of some of the recipes, it is with the best intentions in mind. The average, modern, home cook would not want to bake bread from scratch for making a sandwich or butcher a small animal to make one dish and this cookbook understands that. Think of this as a collection of recipes for what the author would make at home when he isn't cooking in a commercial kitchen. They are definitely top notch and would be great for entertaining and family meals alike. Pascal Rigo makes cooking simple, delicious French dishes as easy as can be! September 20, 2013
Awesome cookbook! This is one awesome cookbook! The simplicity with which it is organized makes you wonder why all cookbooks are not laid out like this. The left page shows the finished dish. The right page takes you through the recipe step-by-step with a photo to show you what each step looks like. The recipes are simple too. No hard to find ingredients. No expensive or time consuming stocks required. It's all very straightforward with easily accessible ingredients. I have cooked a few recipes from this book and the results are outstanding. The chicken tagine recipe is so easy to make and it tastes great. The wild mushroom mac and cheese dish is delicious. These are real recipes for real people. Whether you are just taking up cooking or you have been cooking all your life, this cookbook will be a valuable addition to your kitchen. June 9, 2013
Love this cookbook The photos are a joy to look upon, a feast for the eyes and the recipes are ones that "real" people will be able to prepare. The ingredients needed are minimal and won't involve traipsing all over town looking for some obscure spice that can't be found anywhere but on wikipedia.. Even if you are not a cook, the photographs are so vivid, you'll enjoy it as a pictorial food essay. May 19, 2013
My new favorite cookbook! This cookbook is amazing! The recipes are easy to follow and the step by step photographs make each recipe a success! May 10, 2013
