Unmistakable notes of grapefruit and black currant found in no other origin.

Kenya's high altitudes, ideal climate and strong traditions have helped put premium Kenyan coffees like this one among the world's most treasured. And as it did when we introduced it in 1971, Kenya continues to astound our expert tasters and customers alike with flavors not commonly ascribed to coffee. Bright with a juicy acidity, low wine notes and fruity flavors—ranging from black currant and blackberry to tart grapefruit—that become more pronounced as the coffee cools, Kenya is delicious served over ice and an important ingredient in our iced-coffee blends.

Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

Kenya the best Like another reviewer I went Kenya and fell in love with Kenyan coffee. Starbucks does a great effort in meeting that level of excellence. Take one drink and you will be hooked February 28, 2015
Best Coffee out there I don't know that much about the different types of coffee, but I have tried most of them at Starbucks, and then at various stores, cafes and at home. This one, to me, has by far the very best flavors. Going to have a cup right now. December 26, 2014
Absolute Love This coffee is so one of a kind. It just burst with flavor. It is the most different coffee I have ever had, and it is wonderful. Not a coffee to drink every day, but you almost need it once a week just to remember the great feeling it gives you. December 17, 2014
Mild, medium roast Not much cream and sugar is needed in the Kenya blend with its juicy mild taste. You must try this one! December 15, 2014
Not as fresh as expected Our local Starbucks has ceased carrying most of my favorite beans. I had hoped the web store would be a good alternative. If anything, I thought I could assure more freshly roasted products by ordering from the source. The beans were not fresh. I have gotten more lively Starbucks coffee beans at the local supermarkets. They are a dull brown color and seem dry. The wonderful aroma that comes from a just opened bag of good beans isn't there. Nor are the complex flavors I expect from good Kenyan coffee to be found. The undertones of citrus are missing completely. I will have to start looking for Starbucks stores in larger cities when I travel and hope they will have the varieties I crave in fresh packages.
