Guatemala Antigua

The Antigua Valley of Guatemala is treasured for its 100-year-old farms, nutrient-rich volcanic soil and its coffee, which is the touchstone of quality. Farmers take enormous pride in traditions they've passed on for generations. As a result, the coffee you experience is rich and multidimensional, with a flavor that's consistent, cup after cup—lemon, chocolate and soft spice notes with an elegant mouthfeel unique to this region. It's why we loved this coffee back in '71, and why we love it today.

A Better Cup

We're committed to ethically sourcing and roasting the highest-quality arabica coffee in the world. When we buy coffee this way, it fosters a better future for farmers, and a more stable climate for the planet. It also helps create a long-term supply of the high-quality beans we've been carefully blending, roasting and packing fresh for more than 40 years.

Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

This is the best flavored coffee I have ever had This is the best flavored coffee I have ever had. Blended just perfect, not overwhelming February 7, 2015
Fantastic coffee I have always been a Colombian, French, Italian, and Cafe Verona coffee drinker. The other day while in the store speaking to my barista, she mentioned the Guatemala Antigua. She knows which lattes I purchase every time I come in. She explained alot about the Guatemala Antigua and suggested that based on my taste, I should try it. I purchased a bag. This has to be the best tasting coffee I have ever had! I'm definitely hooked. You've got to try it! I find it smooth with a subtle spicy, cocoa flavor. Absolutely delicious! ! January 26, 2015
One of best Starbucks coffees ever! The first few times I tried it, it tasted cocoaey and also tasted like chocolate chip cookies. I also tasted the coffee a few times: (unmade itself) and it had a bunch of delightful tastes. Also tasting it unmade, I tasted 3-D flavoring and volcanic notes. I could eventually taste the 3 flavorings described on the bag to. They're lemon, soft-spice, and cocoa. Easiest to taste was cocoa, second hardest soft-spice, and hardest to taste, the lemon flavor. This is definetely the best coffee from Starbucks I've tried ever! I give it a five-star rating!!! January 23, 2015

Super coffee!

Comments about Starbucks Guatemala Antigua:

Our son-in-law introduced us to Guatemala Antigua a few years ago. We were immediately hooked! I wish the individual Starbuck's locations would brew this instead of the ever-present Pikes.

My favorite medium roast

By Steve

from Discovery Bay, CA

Comments about Starbucks Guatemala Antigua:

While a medium roast, it's roasted until the oil bathes the bean. Hints of cocoa make this a pleasant morning cup.

    Comments about Starbucks Guatemala Antigua:

2/3 Cup Fresh brew, chilled 24 hours: chilling hugely highlights mellow flavors and aroma.
1 Tablespoon liquid cold spin Organic Honey: cold-spin organic is pure Fructose, all other honeys add sucrose, which is bad for health and ruins flavor.
1 teaspoon any preparation of Cocoa: preparation chosen determines ultimate drink enjoyment, all work well.
1/2 Teaspoon Starbucks Vanilla Syrup (optional): okay, this adds a bolt of sucrose, but unsweetened 'reduces' sucrose.
Twist of tropical fruit: orange peel, dried mango, are examples. Vanilla pod also adds to smoothness.

Smooth coffee with a gentle, rich flavor. Great taste without overpowering the tongue. We enjoy it slightly sweetened.
