Guatemala Antigua

The Antigua Valley of Guatemala is treasured for its 100-year-old farms, nutrient-rich volcanic soil and its coffee, which is the touchstone of quality. Farmers take enormous pride in traditions they've passed on for generations. As a result, the coffee you experience is rich and multidimensional, with a flavor that's consistent, cup after cup—lemon, chocolate and soft spice notes with an elegant mouthfeel unique to this region. It's why we loved this coffee back in '71, and why we love it today.

A Better Cup

We're committed to ethically sourcing and roasting the highest-quality arabica coffee in the world. When we buy coffee this way, it fosters a better future for farmers, and a more stable climate for the planet. It also helps create a long-term supply of the high-quality beans we've been carefully blending, roasting and packing fresh for more than 40 years.

Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

    Comments about Starbucks Guatemala Antigua:

2/3 Cup Fresh brew, chilled 24 hours: chilling hugely highlights mellow flavors and aroma.
1 Tablespoon liquid cold spin Organic Honey: cold-spin organic is pure Fructose, all other honeys add sucrose, which is bad for health and ruins flavor.
1 teaspoon any preparation of Cocoa: preparation chosen determines ultimate drink enjoyment, all work well.
1/2 Teaspoon Starbucks Vanilla Syrup (optional): okay, this adds a bolt of sucrose, but unsweetened 'reduces' sucrose.
Twist of tropical fruit: orange peel, dried mango, are examples. Vanilla pod also adds to smoothness.

    Fantastic coffee

    By Cat55

    Comments about Starbucks Guatemala Antigua:

I have always been a Colombian, French, Italian, and Cafe Verona coffee drinker.
The other day while in the store speaking to my barista, she mentioned the Guatemala Antigua. She knows which lattes I purchase every time I come in. She explained alot about the Guatemala Antigua and suggested that based on my taste, I should try it. I purchased a bag.
This has to be the best tasting coffee I have ever had! I'm definitely hooked. You've got to try it! I find it smooth with a subtle spicy, cocoa flavor. Absolutely delicious! !

One of best Starbucks coffees ever!

    By Jimmer10

    from Wellington, OH 44090, USA

    Comments about Starbucks Guatemala Antigua:

The first few times I tried it, it tasted cocoaey and also tasted like chocolate chip cookies. I also tasted the coffee a few times: (unmade itself) and it had a bunch of delightful tastes. Also tasting it unmade, I tasted 3-D flavoring and volcanic notes. I could eventually taste the 3 flavorings described on the bag to. They're lemon, soft-spice, and cocoa. Easiest to taste was cocoa, second hardest soft-spice, and hardest to taste, the lemon flavor. This is definetely the best coffee from Starbucks I've tried ever! I give it a five-star rating!!!

    My favorite coffee

    By coffeesnob2

    from Kalamazoo. Mi

    Comments about Starbucks Guatemala Antigua:

I recently purchased the k-cups and absolutely love the flavor. When meeting friends for breakfast I have a cup or two before I leave the house since most restaurant coffee is weak and I refuse to buy it.

    Comments about Starbucks Guatemala Antigua:

I have tried many coffees and some I like and some I don't. Perhaps I don't have the pallet for some. However, I know what I like and this is my new favorite! The aroma is great and so is the taste. Just in case it is in short supply I bought 5 boxes and a bag of it.

    Excellent tasting coffee

    By Huntersglen

    from Madison, MO

    Comments about Starbucks Guatemala Antigua:

My wife and I have tried a number of different Starbucks blends but Guatemala Antigua is by far our favorite. It is never bitter even if you add and extra spoon of coffee by mistake. The blend of cocoa and subtle spice is extremely pleasing to the palate, ours at least.
