Double-Wall Stainless Steel Coffee Press, 8-cup
Press itself is fantastic; handle requires refinishing
After receiving this coffee press, I was concerned about the inevitable handle peeling that everyone else here has described.
To prevent it, I lightly sanded the wooden handle and knob to remove the factory coating. It came off entirely in about 30 seconds -- a clear indicator of exceptionally shoddy application. I rubbed in a simple homemade food-safe wood polish and sealant made only with olive oil and natural beeswax. The wooden bits look great now, and I won't need to be concerned about aesthetics at any point in future.
I've experienced no issues with the press itself. It's solidly made, as easy to use and clean as every other French press, and I'm pleased to have a double-wall stainless vessel after going through a few glass presses -- borosilicate glass is brittle, and it cracks easily.
However, it's unacceptable to have to repair or refinish an item within days of receiving it. Smart businesses are meticulous about vetting their suppliers and product testing so that they deliver branded goods which meet the quality expectations of their customers.
I am also curious as to how long the seal around the filter will hold up. It appears to be silicone, so should last much longer than rubber, but I don't see replacement parts available here.
Four stars for the press itself, one star for the handle, and three stars overall.

Works well, not aesthetically pleasing.
I regret not reading the reviews before buying. I trusted Starbucks b/c they usually deliver. Not this time. The coffee press works very well, but the wood has begun to peel. I wash the coffee press by hand and didn't know it was going to peel. I soo wanted this to be a great review :-/

Don't do it!
I went against the advice id other reviewers and bought because it really is sharp. Knowing in advice that the wood finish is delicate I didn't put in dishwasher and washed by hand. Within a week half the finish came off.
It's a shame because it's so nice however id avoid because it's so bad I don't want to leave out on my counter top.

Design Element Durability: Disappointing
I was looking to replace my glass press with a press that would keep coffee hot longer. I saw this handsome press and admired the look of it, but not at full price. Happily, I was able to pick it up on sale. But that doesn't make up for the disappointment I feel when I see how the handle and the plunger top have peeled and chipped so quickly with normal use. If you need a workhorse, this press is great. If you need a gift for a coffee lover, keep looking.

Poor quality of wood
The function is great, the coffee tastes great and the design is appealing. However, the quality of components is poor. The wood splits, peels and flakes all over the place. I am extremely careful to only wash this by hand and to generally not get the wood wet, but it still is in horrible condition after very little time. My first one cracked after a week. I exchanged it for a new one, but after just two weeks and the same thing happened. I'm very disappointed.
