Good The product is very good. I am very happy about this product February 28, 2015
Works great, but I had to solve the wood finish problem... This works like a dream and it even comes w/a 4-minute timer to brew perfect coffee. After breaking a few glass coffee presses, stainless was a must-have for me. However, that being said, the wooden handle finish (and on the button on top) begins to flake off immediately after the first hand-washing, and it gets all over the place. I exchanged mine for a second one and of course it happened again. ****I discovered a solution: there is a molded stainless handle in between the two wood pieces, so I unscrewed the wooden handle cover and the stainless one remains attached and it works fine. It's not very ergonomic or comfortable but you only have to use the handle for a short time, anyways. Starbucks should really fix this flaw but it works great for now. February 28, 2015
Sadly, the "elegant details" are the problem. I am on my second pot in less than two months and the replacement has the same problem as the first: the wood-colored paint/coating on the handle and the top of the plunger chips off as soon as it's used. I will be sending this one back, too. Whatever the method is of coating the handle/top is defective. I use the pot at my office and am very careful in washing -- it does not go in the dishwasher nor soak in water (although for a stainless steel item, water shouldn't hurt it). As soon as I started using it, the paint/coating began to chip again. I will be returning this one as well. I will say that the ease of replacement was nice. February 17, 2015
The Press is great, once you get over the wood finish I've had this press for over a year, I use it practically every morning, and it is a pleasure. The double-wall stainless steel does indeed keep the coffee hot much longer than a glass press. Also, the steel construction has proven to be very sturdy. Mine is in perfect working order after over a year of constant use. Sure, if you drop it, it might bend, but it isn't going to break in normal everyday use, unlike glass presses. Now for the oddities. The wood finish on the handle is terrible. It started coming off within three uses. I finally decided I've had enough, and sanded the rest off. I intend to refinish the wood bits with a penetrating stain (hey, it will match my kitchen woodwork! Custom!) and keep the surface in good shape with mineral oil as needed -- just like any other wooden kitchen implement. (Seriously, people, it's not like you expect your wooden spoons or your knife handles to have a flawless finish. It's a kitchen tool.) The plunger rod assembly tends to come unscrewed easily, both the knob at the top, and the screen assembly. Just something to be aware of. Give everything a quick twist to tighten it down before use. One other minor nitpick: there is a little ledge on the inside near the top, where the double walls are joined. It is possible for a few grounds to settle on the ledge, and then when you plunge, you have floaters in your cuppa. To avoid that, give it a little tap to knock any loose grounds to the bottom before you pour in the water. I say: buy it, don't worry about the flaky wood finish, and enjoy your press coffee. French Press is my favorite brewing method, and this is my favorite French Press so far. February 7, 2015
