Easy. Easier and better than drip. Not sure why I hadn't switched before.
It is an attractive press and makes an adequate amount of coffee when serving. It keeps hot for about an hour, not two like one of the other reviews suggested. My disappointment was the lid does not fit very tight. My other Bodum press has a much tighter fitting lid, this just sort of sits on the top a little wobbly. Otherwise I do recommend it for a lovely cuppa.
I've used this for about one month and love it! It is perfect for a person (like me) who drinks several cups of coffee in the morning. Each cup is hot and fabulous. The parts are easy to clean and seem to be well made. I'll update this if time and use prove otherwise.
I have owned this model for 8+ years and it has performed flawlessly with regular use. Well worth the extra money for the durability--and the heat retention is an added bonus. Highly recommended.
1. There is no replacement for pressed coffee. It is the gold standard for how to make the best tasting coffee.
2. When you come to the conclusion you cannot live without pressed coffee and want to invest in a product that will last, this is it. I went through 3 glass presses before finally bucking up and spending the money for this one.
3. Yes it has plastic, but unlike some of the other bodum presses, it is a very thick, durable plastic that can be replaced if, by some act of stupidity, you manage to break it.
4. Join the coffee snobs, buy this press.
I am in love with this coffee press! I have not had any quality issues and it is wonderful to be able to have a second cup of coffee after I have slowly sipped my first cup. I think it's worth every penny and it looks sharp as well!
At first my coffee was very good...but the press was always difficult to use ! My hand was very sore trying to push the handle. ...and now I'm trying to replace the filter unit...can't find it ...frustrating !
What can be better than a French press that won't break? Also keeps your coffee warm for a few hours. Very attractive.
A little pricey, but more attractive than most.
The post that screws into the filter is stripped causing the filter to detach it leaving behind near the bottom of the carafe. I am very disappointed.
Even though the pot itself is made of stainless steel, the lid is a weak link with a lot of plastic . . . too much. I will be surprised if part of lid doesn't break down in a few years. So while the pot itself is solid, makes good coffee and keeps it warm, the product overall conveys a level of "cheapness" with the lack of solidity in the lid. I would not buy this again.
