Chambord Coffee Press by Bodum®, 8-cup

This classic 8-cup coffee press is still made with the same painstaking craftsmanship as the original from the fifties, but this latest version has a new chrome-plated steel frame and lid that will last for years. It features a wide, matte-black polypropylene handle that provides a cool, comfortable grip and adds to the modern style of the design. The borosilicate glass carafe is heat-resistant, and the entire press is dishwasher safe.

How to Brew

To make the finest coffee, use 1 rounded tablespoon of coarse-ground coffee for each 4-fl oz cup of coffee, and follow these simple steps:

  1. Add fresh, coarsely ground coffee to the pot.
  2. Pour in well-temperated water (not boiling) and stir.
  3. Wait 3 – 4 minutes.
  4. Stop the brewing process by gently pressing down the plunger.

Original coffee press design from the fifties is considered by coffee connoisseurs as one of the best ways to brew coffee.

Stainless steel frame and lid feature a durable, polished surface.

Heat-resistant borosilicate glass carafe holds up to 1 liter/34 fl oz.

It's classic for good reason I could go on and on about this French press. I love it! It brews excellent coffee (that is if you are brewing Starbucks coffee), it's easy to use, easy to clean and it looks great. Serving coffee from this French press will always impress your guests and if it's just you drinking coffee, then this French press will make your simple cup of coffee look and feel more like a special occasion. Be mindful of the fact that this is not an 8-cup press as we Americans know a cup to mean 8 ounces. This is a European press and in this case a cup is 4 ounces. So the technical capacity of this press is 34 ounces and if filled to the brim it will yield approximately 32 ounces of brewed coffee (the coffee grounds will hold on to some water). So in reality this press will serve 2-3 people. Make sure to stick to Starbucks' recommended coffee brewing guidelines: 2 tbsp. ground coffee to every 6 ounces of water. The instructions that come with this press will tell you to use 1 tbsp. of ground coffee to every 4 ounces of water but the resulting coffee will be a little thin and watery. If the properly brewed coffee is too strong for you then you can add hot water to your desired strength but the flavor will still be better than using less ground coffee because you will capture more of the coffee's essential oils. As a Starbucks partner the French press is my preferred brewing method and this simple, elegant and easy to use French press is an outstanding value. You could pay a lot more for an automatic drip coffee maker but the French press still makes a better cup of coffee. October 16, 2014
Nice press, yummy coffee! This is the first french press I've tried, and I like it a lot. It's a pretty easy process once you get it down. My only problem with the press is that "8 cups" is really only 8 very small cups. It's really more like 3 or so normal coffee mugs worth of coffee. October 16, 2014
Great product, great price!! Extremely happy with this purchase, and price is right! Thank you! October 13, 2014
makes a great cup of coffee Have used the smaller version for years for afternoon coffee and now wanted a larger one for morning time. It is a great way to make coffee and taste is best of all the ways I have made coffee. October 13, 2014
Ordered 2 and both deformed!!! AVOID I ordered one and the metal framing was deformed. I decided to order another one and same thing. There are 4 feet as part of the metal framing and one of them isn't bent like the others causing the upper ring of the framing to be positioned incorrectly. The glass beaker does not sit flush against the framing and the upper metal ring is slanted and not straight because it's too long from not having the lower portion, the foot, bent properly. I returned one but am stuck with the one I used. October 10, 2014
