Horchata Latte Recipe with Starbucks VIA® Instant Coffee

 

A popular tradition in Mexico and Spain, this beverage often features rice, milk, and cinnamon. Learn how to make a quick, delicious version with Starbucks VIA® Instant Coffee.

01 Soak rice in the water overnight (or at least an hour).
02 Add the rice and its soaking water to a blender, along with the vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and Starbucks VIA® Instant Coffee. Blend for two minutes.
03 Strain the blended mixture into a storage container and stir in the milk.
04 Cover the container and chill the mixture completely (overnight is fine).
05 When you’re ready to serve the horchata, pour it into a serving pitcher, leaving any sediment behind.
06 Serve and enjoy.

Note: For extra presentation points, garnish your glasses with orange rind.
Variation: Try substituting the milk with chocolate milk.

SERVES 4

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup long-grain white rice

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 2 packets of Starbucks VIA® Ready Brew Italian Roast

  • 2 ½ cups milk

DIRECTIONS

Soak the rice in water overnight (or at least an hour). Place rice, soaking water, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and Starbucks VIA® Instant Coffee in blender. Blend for two minutes. Strain mixture into storage container. Add milk and stir. Cover and chill completely. Pour into serving pitcher, leaving sediment behind. Pour into glasses, serve and enjoy.
