I love the cork bottom to the cup. I have glass coasters and other ceramic mugs have not always felt that secure , this one sits tight, never sliding. I think it also helps keep the coffee a bit warmer.
I just bought the mug this morning and the cork bottom came off on my second cup of ccoffee. Thie lid does not fit well and slides around too easily and this causes coffee to spill.
I received my mug as a Father's Day gift and use this mug all the time. The mug, nor it's lid were NEVER put through the dish washer. I would hand wash every time I was finished so it was ready to be used again. Unfortunately the last time I went to use it I found the rubber ring that keeps the seal was broken, not cracked to where it would leak, but literally snapped so the lid is unusable. I still use my mug but with such a wide "mouth" on the mug my coffee cools downs very fast.
I love it. It's very cool! My only fear is germ accumulating in the cork bottom or it deteriorating.
Love the cork bottpm on this mug. It also has a wide mouth so I use it for more than coffee. Very pleased with my purchase.
This cup is great you put it down it stays! Nice and big love the size!!! The lid is a bonus! The cork is a nice touch to this huge cup that stays in place till you move it.
This 12 oz. cup is the closest I have come to finding the perfect cup. It is lightweight, won't tip over, has a nice cork bottom so no matter what type of counter or desk you have to place it on, it won't make noise or scratch. It has a removable silicone gasket for cleaning ease. The one exception is the diameter is large (3-7/8" OD x 3-7/8" high) and with the placement and size of the open slot to cup body (not a shaped hole in cover only), it is difficult to keep from dribbling out the sides. I guess if you have a wider mouth it would not be a problem, but it is for me. I noticed a reviewer of the similar black cup had dribble issues too. However, I still like it very much for all the other reasons and it is my second favorite Starbucks cup. The first being a 6-yr old Starbuck ceramic cup (14 oz. 5" high x 3-1/2" dia. base tapering to 3" dia. top). The wider SS insulated bottom prevents tipping tapering to ceramic up to the perfect sized cover with a real properly-sized slot for drinking rather than an open hole, no dribbles, and little to no splash. It also has a rubber bottom for silent, no-scratch placement. It is heavier than the new one being reviewed and I prefer the lighter weight cup. Can't have everything but it's nice to keep trying.
