Organic Shade Grown Mexico

This bright, nutty-flavored whole bean coffee with the crisp finish is certified organic and grown under shade trees on small farms in Chiapas, Mexico. Farmers near the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, the last remaining cloud forest in southern Mexico, are helping to protect its biodiversity by using traditional shade tree growing methods, which provide a natural habitat for the forest's many migratory birds species.

For more than a decade, Starbucks and Conservation International have been working together with farmers to help protect the biodiversity of forests like El Triunfo.

Recipe for great coffee

  1. Use cold, filtered water and a clean machine.
  2. Grind beans just before brewing:
    • Coarse for coffee press
    • Medium for automatic drip
  3. Measure 2 tbsp (10 g) ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) water.

To help preserve that fresh flavor, keep this bag sealed tight in a cabinet (not in the refrigerator) and brew within a week of opening.

Each coffee requires slightly different amounts of time and temperature during the roasting process to create a cup at its peak of aroma, acidity, body and flavor. We classify our coffees in three roast profiles so you can easily find your desired flavor and intensity.

  • Blonde: Blonde-roasted coffees have a shorter roast time, lighter body and mellow flavors.
  • Medium: Medium-roasted coffees are balanced with smooth and rich flavors.
  • Dark: Dark-roasted coffees feature a fuller body and robust, bold flavors.

Looking for the Best Taste My ex girlfriend worked at Starbucks as a barista for 5 years. During that time I was allotted several drinks/products for free. After becoming pseudo coffee connoisseur, I was led with the conclusion that Organic Shade Grown Mexico was the best tasting/feeling coffee out of the whole bunch! It's the apidame of that coffee smell you get a whiff of at the grocery store! It's the coffee you'd expect to wake up to at a luxe bed and breakfast. Good luck finding it now! June 15, 2013
A Hidden Gem I accidentally came across this online and have never seen it before. I decided to buy it to see how it was and what not. I was blown away with how smooth it was and how unique the flavor was. Definitely a must try. January 28, 2013
I Hope it is back soon This is Starbucks best coffee. It needs to come back! January 7, 2013
So good! I hope Starbucks starts carrying it again. Incredibly smooth, tastes great no matter what method you use to brew it. I used to drive around to every Starbucks in town to buy this coffee. Then, once it was only available online, I would order multiple bags at once since my husband, friends, and I could drink it by the gallon. I hope Starbucks starts carrying this coffee again soon!
