  • Black Tea
  • Ingredients

For Best Brewing

  1. Use one heaping teaspoon of loose leaves per 8 fl oz of 215° water.
  2. Let it steep for 5 minutes. Wait patiently for perfection.

Black tea is the fully oxidized leaf of Camellia sinensis and requires the most processing. The brewed liquor ranges between dark brown and deep red. Black teas offer the strongest flavors and, in some cases, the greatest astringency.

Nuwara Eliya, situated among the mountains of central Sri Lanka (still called by the colonial name Ceylon in tea circles), grows magnificent tea at the highest of elevations. This medium-bodied tea offers rich, pungent flavor and a vivid golden brew. Hailed as the best of Ceylon’s many tea offerings, this cup lives up to the grandeur of this island nation.

Vegetal, light, drinkable Floral aroma? A co-worker said that it smelled like grass, she added a sprig of rosemary after it was brewed, drank it without any other addition, and said it was good. I added milk and sugar to mine, and it was OK. If half stars were an option, I would give it 2 and a half stars. This is important - only 1 teaspoon to 12 ounces of water, brew for no more than 3 minutes. Disregard directions on bag, unless you are a coffee drinker only drinking tea for health reasons.
